OVERVIEW
We depart from Florence early in the morning to meet our guide in Siena. We'll walk with her to see the main monuments and squares: Basilica di San Domenico, Santuario di Santa Caterina, Duomo and Battistero, Ospedale di Santa Maria della Scala, Piazza del Campo with Fonte Gaia, Palazzo Pubblico and Torre del Mangia, Palazzo Tolomei and Palazzo Salimbeni. Along the way our expert guide will provide the basic information about the history of this incredible city and its most important cultural event, the Palio, a traditional and unique horse race taking place in Piazza del Campo twice a year.
After the two hours walking excursion of the city we'll have an authentic three courses tuscan lunch at a local "osteria": great food and of course great Chianti wine!
Next we'll visit the Cathedral of Siena (Duomo) assisted by our expert guide, and we'll enter the "Museo dell'Opera del Duomo" to enjoy the best panoramic view of Siena, the one from the "Facciatone".
We'll leave Siena to Florence around 4 pm.
