Chianti Classico Tour

OVERVIEW

The Chianti Classico territory is shared between the provinces of the two municipalities of Siena and Florence. The zone amounts to 71,800 hectares (177,500 acres) and includes the entire territories of the municipalities of Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Greve in Chianti and Radda in Chianti and parts of those of Barberino Val d'Elsa, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Poggibonsi, San Casciano Val di Pesa and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. The characteristics of the climate, terrains and altitudes, which are unfavorable for most crops, have made Chianti Classico a region that excels in the production of premium wines. In this region full of history and beauty winemakers produce their premier DOCG Chianti Classico and DOP Extra Virgin olive oil following a tradition that roots back to the etruscan times. At the firrst winery we'll have the opportunity to taste a selection of prestigious wines combined with some bruschettas and other tuscan snacks. Our lunch will be at an authentic italian restaurant located inside the stunning castle of Monteriggioni, built by the Republic of Siena in 1213 to protect the region by the incursions of the Florentines. Lunch will be the occasione to open a bottle of the best Chianti wine! After a short walk of the castle with amazing photo opportunities we'll heading to a second winery and located in the southern side of the Chianti Classico region, where we'll have the pleasure to taste their best wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and Chianti Classico Superiore. You will have the chance to take amazing pictures of the magnificent landscape offered by the Chianti Classico region. And after the tasting if you like you will have the opportunity to buy or ship home. On our way back to Florence we'll stop at the fantastic panoramic view of the Michelangelo square. Tour lasts approximately 8 hours.
